Frequently asked questions
What does Coin Value cost?
Coin Value Plus is one plan with everything included, billed weekly or yearly: a 3-day free trial, then €2.99 per week, or €39.99 per year (you save 74% compared to weekly). Prices are for the German App Store; other countries see their local price in the app. There is no free tier and no ads.
How do I cancel the subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. On your iPhone open Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Coin Value Plus › Cancel. If you cancel at least 24 hours before the 3-day trial ends, nothing is charged. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles refunds for all App Store purchases: go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in and choose the purchase. We cannot issue refunds ourselves, but if something in the app went wrong, tell us and we will help.
I bought Plus but the app says I'm not subscribed.
Open Settings in the app and tap Restore purchases, making sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used for the purchase. If it still does not work, e-mail us with the date of purchase.
Can I use Plus on a second iPhone?
Yes. Sign in with the same Apple ID and tap Restore purchases. Your collection itself is stored locally on each device and is not synced.
How accurate are the values?
Values are estimates from catalog and market data for typical grades, not an appraisal and not a purchase offer. The grade of a coin can change its value many times over, and an AI model can be wrong, especially with blurry, dark or partial photos. Compare the details (year, mint mark, diameter, weight) with your coin and have valuable pieces appraised by a dealer or grading service before selling.
The coin was identified incorrectly. What can I do?
Tap Other matches on the result screen to switch to another candidate. For a better result, photograph front and back on a plain, matte background in daylight, fill the circle, avoid glare, and add a detail photo of the year or mint mark. If it still fails, send us the photos. It helps us improve.
Which coins are supported?
Circulation and commemorative coins from around the world, with a focus on euro coins (including 2 euro commemoratives), Deutsche Mark, Pfennig, Reichsmark and older German coins, plus US, UK and other modern issues. Medals, tokens, heavily worn or damaged pieces may not be recognized reliably.
What is “metal value”?
For coins containing silver or gold, the app multiplies the coin's fine metal content by the current spot price. The date of the spot price is shown in the app. It is the theoretical melt value, not what a dealer pays.
Does the app work offline?
Your collection, values and notes work without a connection. Identifying a new coin needs internet, because the photos are sent to our server in the EU for AI recognition. They are discarded right after the answer.
Do I need an account? Is my data synced?
No account, no login, no sync. Your collection lives on your iPhone only. Back it up with your regular iPhone backup. If you delete the app, the collection is gone.
How do I delete my data?
Settings › Delete all data removes your collection, photos, history and settings. Photos sent for identification are never stored on our side. See the privacy policy for details.
Camera or photo access does not work.
Open iOS Settings › Coin Value and enable Camera (and Photos, if you want to pick pictures from your library).
